[Error Code] scan to SMB not possible AFAIK

    HP E77822dn

Had a customer who bought a HP E77822dn

    no server just workgroup environment.

Setup shared folders but copier would always report specified folder doesn't exist.
Had to use IP address as no local DNS

Do a packet capture on the port and discovered even with IP address its still trying to resolve to a DNS server and when it cant the job is set to Scheduled.

In the end just installed a FTP server on each PC and scanned with that instead and that worked fine

Be aware on newer HP firmware, the full path must be entered and domain/user has to be used for scan to network to operate properly.

This was on a pagewide firmware update but should be the same for other newer FS3/FS4 firmware requirements. From the firmware readme

IMPORTANT! EXISTING SCAN TO NETWORK PROFILE SETTINGS MAY REQUIRE REVISION AFTER APPLYING THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE INCREASED NETWORK SECURITY, SUPPORT FOR SMB V2/V3 NETWORK PROTOCOLS HAS BEEN ENABLED BEGINNING WITH FIRMWARE VERSION 001.1829A (see below) FOR THE PRODUCTS LISTED ABOVE. WITH THE ENABLEMENT OF SMB V2/V3, USERS ARE NOW REQUIRED TO ADHERE TO NETWORKING STANDARDS FOR SPECIFICATION OF NETWORK PATHS AND USER AUTHENTICATION. PLEASE ENSURE THAT FULLY QUALIFIED DOMAIN NAMES ARE USED FOR NETWORK PATHS, AND THAT DOMAIN IS INCLUDED IN CONJUNCTION WITH USERNAME FOR AUTHENTICATION SETTINGS WHEN UPDATING EXISTING SCAN TO NETWORK FOLDER PROFILES OR CREATING NEW SCAN TO NETWORK FOLDER PROFILES.

EXAMPLES: Network Location Using Fully Qualified Domain Name: \\machinename.domain.yourcorpname.net\scantonetwor kfoldername\
    Username including Domain NameOMAIN\username

Interesting...I have the identical model with the same scan to network folder issue. No matter how the path is set up, will not authenticate with the same message.
I have a L3 support ticket open with HP...still working on it.

Rolling back firmware to 4.8.0.1 resolved it as a temp option. It removes Expert Copy mode though. HP Australia is apparently escalating the issue to the Firmware Dev team

HP advised us that 4.10 has resolved this issue
