HP Color Laserjet 5500dn PCL XL error

I keep getting this same error. PCL XL error - MissingData. HP Color Laserjet 5500dn. Can anyone help with how to fix this. When I send a print job, it will not print anything except this error message on the first page. Thanks in advance

Corruption is occuring between the pc and the printer. there have been some issues with PCL6 drivers. Try removing (completely) the existing driver, reboot the pc and then install PCL5 print driver from HP. It can sometimes be connection between the printer and the pc. Check cable connections. Try a different network card, connection, or port. In rare cases its the formatter, but I'd check the other stuff first.

    Hope this helps you

How would I go about removing the existing driver? I found the PCL 5 print driver on HP website and know how to download that. I just want to make sure I completely remove the PCL 6.

For XP Click Start > Control Panel

        Open Printers and Faxes.
        1. On the File menu, click Server Properties, and then click the Drivers tab.
        2. In the Installed printer drivers list, click the driver you want to remove, click Remove, and then click Yes to confirm.
I had an issue once with an Epson driver conflicting with an HP driver. Sometimes you have to eliminate other drivers.

You do not need to deleted the old driver until you know the new one works.

When the new pcl 5e driver is verified as working then go to printers and faxes right click on the driver to be deleted and click deleted.

          Works every time.

I've had issues with drivers conflicting with each other and pc's confusing drivers. If he has a corrupted driver and is trying to reload it will revert to the old files. He'll have the same problem as before. Better to be safe than sorry and most drivers are available online, so they can be reloaded. Its an extra step, but worth it in my book.

The step I forgot to add is to down load the driver from HP.com first.
The should insure against a corupt driver.

HP Clj5500 series, this error maybe means PCL Language is broken on this machine. I have this service manual.
