If FW fails you may have a bad Formatter Board. I was able to rescue some of them in the past (not for this particular model of yours) heating up the Chip on the board - the process it's called reflow. You may heard of it if not do a web search as there are plenty of info about that.

To be more specific...you are remelting the solder on the circuit board. You DO NOT want heat any components significantly for fear of thermally damaging them.
