    Auto Dealer Window Sticker Printer

I'm hoping that someone has a suggestion for laser printer that my customer who is an auto dealer could use for printing their window stickers. They have a number of good printers at the dealership but the only one they have been able to make feed and print reliably is an HP laserjet 4200... now its giving us feed and fusing issues.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a better laser printer for printing those window stickers. These stickers are applied on the outside of the window so that's why "laser" is important... so the ink doesn't run.

    Any help will be appreciated

As auto dealerships around us have moved away from Reynolds & Renynolds software they have been buying Lexmarks from us. Not sure if any of them are printing windows stickers with them but I am almost certain they would be. Lexmark has a lab in Lexington KY where they test all kinds of odd media in all types of enviromental conditions. They claim if their product won't run something they will do their best to get it to.

Thank you so much for that info. They mostly have the Lexmark MS810's but are now moving into the MS823DN's. They were claiming that they didn't "work" so I just followed their lead... maybe I should look further into it.

We had a Ford dealer that use small Kyocera MFP 1135 in the bypass

Had to set paper size to custom

Thank you, that would certainly be an easy solution.

A brother label printer comes to mind. Had good fun with there before.

If B/W is requiered run of rolls of thermal sticker paper. Thermal printers are fast these days.

You're right, laser doesn't run off in the rain as long as what it is printed on is will stand up to the rain. A transparent film would be best but for some optical jam detect systems would require a peel off backing. Then comes the problem of the pickup rollers spinning of the transparency if fed from most trays that load print side up. Often that can be avoided if you can find ribbed pickup rollers that will fit your printer.

They might be buying pre-printerd window stickers in bulk and then printing the vechicle specific details on that. I assumed that is what they were doing anyway. Something like..

I think I got this resolved with a rebuilt HP LJ 4350. The labels come from the auto manufacturer and are not great quality. The "new" HP LJ seems to be working great... fingers crossed. I appreciate all your input.
