did you check it in SM?

did you ping the wires or visually inspect it?

is the switch out of place?

do you have the Service manual?

need more info as to when it started ..what you have tried... you know tech info.

the 602 or M602 only has 2 paper trays.. 1 fold down MP Tray

          and one cassette tray #2

if it has 3 trays as stated it is an optional tray... is the connector damaged?

does the PC see the optional tray in the print driver?

NO question is stupid or unwarranted frankly if you gave more info the extraneous questiones would not be asked.

sorry to have ruffled your pin feathers.

i guess why I treated you like a NOOB is the lack of info ( you are there with it.. I'm not.

also I check to see if people are techs or end users by looking at their profile page... please tell me looking at yours.. are you a tech? what have you been trained on? Profile is bare Sir.

Could be Massachusetts or New Hampshire. Either way he sounds like a typical nose in the air New England liberal.

I was taken back by this comment: ... Please spare the sacarcastic questions.Have serviced copiers/printers since 1983.

the only statement I could think of is " you know tech info "

but with his profile who knows what his quali's are?

besides I felt they were good questions since the lack of info included in his profile.

yeah he 's been around for a bit but who knows what he has worked on.

pretty snippy attitude if you ask me but....

When did asking pertinent questions become sarcastic? My guess is that Phil has encountered similar problems multiple times in the past but more input is required on your part to determine which one is applicable. How long you have worked on copiers and printers mean nothing if you are not trained on a model or at least have the service documentation in hand. Most HP service documents are available online to whomever wishes to look them up.

My first thought would be something broken on the cassette itself. HPs aren't known for bad sensors. If you have to bite the bullet the whole options feed assy isn't that expensive...
