    HPT7100 firmware HDD image Clone

    Hi,

Does anyone have an image of the firmware HDD of the HP t7100?

We have an issue with the printer, and we suspect it's the HDD cullprit, but it does not make sense to buy one just to test.

Also, it would be very helpful to move the system to a SSD, which of course HP does not provide.

What's the printer doing (or not doing) that points to the HDD?

You can buy a brand new HDD on Ebay for about $75 shipped.

      Hi,

The printer is stuck on "Preparing to print"

We had two official HP reps come in, and they say the hdd might be a good point to start.

If I order online, it will take a long time. And I would preffer if I do go forward with the printer, to swap with SSD.

      Many thanks for your help.

      Paul

Will it print a demo print from the panel menu?

Have they tried other files? Sometimes it will hang if the file sent is not compatible with the printer language.

          Hi,

THanks for your feedback. It does not even print its tests. Whenever it has to print anything, other diag or sent file, it just hangs in there forever.

Usually when the HDD goes bad it won't even get past the boot. But this is good info for others to help diagnose.

Hopefully someone can provide what you need. Those images are pretty tough to come by. But you probably know that already.

Good luck. Will follow to see what the solution turns out to be.

              Hi,

I am still working as fast as possible to clone it.

We have retried to upgrade the firmware, funny thing it only accepts the newest one. The others fail in the firmware update process.

My guess is there are some bad sectors or something, but given that it allows boot and firmware upgrade, this will come in handly if I can clone the bad hdd.

I will be back with a solution if I find one. Or with a photo of the recycling company picking up the printer. )
