    [Misc] Hp m281 Document Feeder

Has anybody seen a hp 281 show a constant paper loaded in the df? I have disassembled the df completely - only 3 sensors there. Is there a platen sensor to let the machine know if the df is down or up? The service manual is not much help as far as io troubleshooting. I have reseated all the ribbon cables and connectors and updated the firmware and did a hard reset. Bad formatter?

Man, I hate those things. Did you go old school and check the sensors to make sure you are getting a high / low on them? I've seen this with other models and it's always been a bad sensor.

You might be right but the df acts as though it has no power - the pickup motor never takes off and when you lift the cover to check for a jam no door open shows up. Every piece of equipment that I have serviced in the past at least showed a door open. Also you would think that if the paper detect switch was blocked or bad it would try to start up the pickup rollers. I will try to ohm out the sensors but I am leaning toward the formatter or main bd
