HP MFP M276 problems after many years working well

    Hi Everyone!
I am new at this site, hoping for guidance how to proceed with this older printer, can't afford to buy a new one. It was working fine until now.

HP laserjet pro all-in-one HP MFP M276 PCL 6 Printing Problem. Scanner works fine. It is connected to a wireless network with two computers. Still OK. (For years, it needed to be re-started to re-connect to the network about every month. -no problem for me.)

    1. Error message. Output tray jammed. I opened the back and removed a stuck page. Disconnected power cord and waited 24 Hrs. Re-started fine. copied 1page ok. On 2nd page: error msg: back door open -- initiating -- back door open -- initiating, --and so on. Continues constantly with the same message. Back door is always closed.

Could it be a mechanical issue or a firmware issue? driver issue? Should I re-install/update firmware? I am concerned with that because I heard that HP will block non-HP toner cartridges from working. -true?

Thank You in advance for any advise!

    Harold,

more than likely when removing the paper you dislodged the exit sensor arm.

it should be a thin piece of black plastic mounted on a optic sensor.

carefully realign the arm n test.

Thank you for the quick reply !
I am unable to locate this sensor arm. Could you describe it's location within the open back door please.
If possible refer me to a picture. I did google 'sensor arm" for my printer, a few pics came up but nothing looks close at my printer.
      Thank You!

Open back door. If you look at the printer where the paper exits the fuser unit.On both sides of that unit is flaps that can move up and down, these are the sensor flags for the output bin.Move them by hand and make sure that they move freely.Sometimes these gets stuck and can cause that error.Hope this will help.

          Thanks for your time!
There is a metal bar running across, spring loaded, moving down freely, behind are a set of rollers. Is this the item in question?

            Hi.
I checked every little piece in there, all seams to be ok.
I re tried to copy and this time the paper got stuck after 1 inch and very faint printing. Toner is new.
Could it be a firmware issue? I was hesitant to install update because of possible block by HP for generic toner?

            Thanks again for your time!
