HP M601 won't come to ready

I have one of these in the field that sometimes won't come to ready. Last time I went I was finally able to get it to work, but not sure how. I had tried swapping formatter assys but that didn't do anything, so I had put the old one back in after being unplugged for a bit and it started working. Now it's doing it again 2 months later, cycles through all the warm up checks but never finishes and comes to ready. Never seen this before, I don't know if I have a board problem or what.

I would start with unplugging all the connections. Starting from the connector for the formatter and including all the smaller connectors on the main PCB. ( small board same side). Something is wiggelly. Hope to hear if something works. GOOD LUCK

Check that take up section, notorious for catching labels.
