    Colour Laserjet 3000

I'm Ricoh/Utax technician for many years, however as part of a new service contract we have aquired 3 of these machines. 1 of them will not recognise the black, magenta or yellow pcu cartridges. They are real HP parts, can any body out there help me
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I know this is a dumb question, but did you remove everything orange (tape or bits of plastic) from the cartridges? HP puts a lot of that stuff on nowadays.

Next are you getting: "10.92.YY CARTRIDGES NOT ENGAGED" message
    If YY =

    00 - Black
    01 - Cyan
    02 - Magenta
    03 - Yellow

    Service Manual says:
    Open/Close front door
    Reseat cartridges
    Clean Memory Controller PCA contacts
Check that connectors J302-305 on Memory Controller PCA and J1020 on DC Controller are connected properly
Replace Memory Controller PCA if its damaged
Check gears on print-cartridge drive motors. Replace defective motors.
    Replace DC Controller.

HOWEVER - My experience with these machines tells me that you might have broken Cartridge Locks which hold the cartridges in position. This is a weakness of the machine and they have been redesigned. If you have to replace 1, you need to replace all of them. Where I work we sell a whole kit with full color instructions to put them in (a bit complicated, because you have to remove the gear drive and align the holes in the gears to reassemble). (4) RC1-6640: CARTRIDGE LOCK LEVERS & (4) RC1-6641: CARTRIDGE LOCK GROUNDING SPRINGS are the numbers you need. If you PM me your email address I'll try to send you the instructions. It wouldn't be worth the shipping to send the parts to you, but you should be able to order it from a vendor near you with the numbers I gave you. These look like little black hooks that secure the cartridges and are on the right side.

Hope all this information helps you.
