    Hp 4000 very light prints

    this printer has very very light prints i can hardly see them. thinking a control board?

    If you have made sure that the cartridge is not the problem, I have had a layer of dust build up on the laser lens. You will have to pop the top of the laser and clean the optics. If you stop in the middle of the print job and pull the cartridge and the image on the drum is light, then most likely the problem is the laser. If the image is correct on the drum, you may have a transfer roller problem.

      Fixthecopier is right on the money with the troubleshooting. 90% of the time its dirty scanner lens. I don't even unplug the cables just take out the 4 screws and use air to blow in the opening. If you're getting completely blank sheets check the laser shutter.

          If you made sure the drum is good(no aging like).It maybe dust on the laser glass,you can take out the cartridge and clean the glass,do not need to open the laser.
