    HP Designjet Z-series

    Hello colleagues,

can anybody tell me howto flash firmware on a new HDD drive?
    In this case it`s a Z5200.
I got the firmware file TR8-AC_19_00_00-1_mvl40-x86-opt_B.fmw and
    TR8-AC_13_00_00_04_mvl40-x86-opt_B.dmg.
    Both size`s about 540MB

    THX

    Hi,

with the designjets you will need a factory formatted hdd w/f -- the w/f means with firmware-

as there preconfigured by hp to work and once you install it may prompt you to do a firmware update

also you cannot get any random hdd or even a used one from another model as the boot code as already had its engine/sn paired to it.

Best thing is to do is purchases a new hdd but before you put it in the designjet first clone it with a dd or hdd raw copy tool on your computer as it will be a better so that if anyone or your one fails again you can just clone it to a new hdd.
