HP 4250 / Envelope feeder

I Installed a new 75 sheet enveolpe feeder to 4250. I get message that says
"Bad envelope feeder connection,check to see if Q _ _ _ _ A feeder is being used.The feeder Im using is a Q4238A feeder. Is this Ok to use on 4250? I put feeder on Hp 4000 to test,and it worked .

I think the feeder you need is the Q4238B from looking on the net. I don't know if the Q4238A works as I haven't found a page saying it does.

Thanks for response.The Company that sold it to me told me it works on the 4200 series machines.I think they are full of it. I think like you do that the B series feeders are needed.

I had a look in the SM for 4200 and it does mention the A version. Exchange number Q2438-69001

This service manual is not for the 4250 though. The 4250 is in a different series to the 4200. Have a look in the SM and see which version it mentions. The B version definitely should work as it's listed on the website I checked for an envelope feeder. It's possible that the A version is and older version that had problems with it, hence the B version with a different name to distinguish it.
