    Hp Machines

    Hi All,

Not much of a technical question just wanted to get some feedback.

Why are you going backwards?? Why change from a decent copier tech to a 'cartridge swapper' tech for HP?

No offence mate, HP can be done blindfolded. If it aint the Toner causing your problem, then its the fuser.

I think you'll be bored brainless.

Besides, how many HP machines are there in Canberra anyways? It would mostly be government contracts with MFP's/copiers surely.

    Good luck mate.

Also, from what I've read at this thread, HP's manuals seem to be a bit lacking when dealing with rebranded machines...

Yeah HP Printers are excellent. I've got a HP Laserjet that's done hundreds of thousands of pages. Typically all it requires is a new toner or something from the maintenance kit e.g. fuser. It has been excellent value for money.

Not very difficult at all doing that. Other problems arise less frequently which may require some reading up on when they occur.

thanks for all the replies it helps alot.
The reason for swapping from Ricoh to Hp is simple.
it comes down to the money at the moment im level 2 for Ricoh doing low/mid/hight b/w and colour and at hp ill be doing b/w colour printers for 6k more.Hp from what i can gather they have won alot of new contracts in Canberra ill just have to see how it goes.

Well, I wish you all the best. I still think you will be bored with the HP product. At least working on copiers, you have to use your head, thinking about all of the problems/maintenance issues/error codes. Sure, HP machines are robust & reliable, but I know many end-users who buy & fit their own Maintenance kits, because they are so simple..... some dont even use a screwdriver, just thumb-screws or clips. You will most likely be onsite for only a few minutes per job.
If changing jobs for a few grand per year more gives you happiness, then go for it. Wishing you well.
From what I hear & have seen, most government contracts in Canberra are Lexmark based for the printers, mostly Sharp & Konica Minolta for copiers. Hope you and HP can break into the Lexmark dominance.
