HP 9050mfp 49.4C02 fax speed dial error?

    Message:
We have an HP 9050MFP under service that is giving the 49.4C02 error code whenever the customer selects a speed dial # to send a fax. The machine will also throw this error if you try to print out the one touch dial list. The fax works fine as long as you dial your destination number manually.

The service manual refers to the 49.4C02 error as a printer error resulting from a critical firmware error.

This machine is in a fairly remote location so I would appreciate any suggestions on finding a solution to this problem.

Here is a list of troubleshooting I have done:
    -Cold Reset
    -Updated to latest firmware
    -Hard Drive Initialization
    -Removed unnecessary options from formatter

    I appreciate any feedback

bad firmware chip? bad formatter? or both?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Can anyone possibly tell me where the speed dial list data is actually stored. It seems whenever the processor on the formatter tries to access the speed dial data the generic 49.4C02 error pops up. I am thinking where the speed dial data is stored lies the problem. hard drive....fax option board....firmware memory card....

      thanks
