HP 2600

I have a HP 2600 which is offsetting on Magenta.When printing out the configuration page the Magenta scale on the left and Magenta bar at the bottom of the page are about 3mm offset to the left?
Recalibrating a number of times works sometimes but only for a few prints.I have also tried "restore defaults " which again works but only for a short time.Replacing cartridges makes no difference.

Can anybody "Help"

1. try to print an event log - If you see any 54 errors let me know
2. Clean cartridge contacts in the machine and on the cartridge
3. Perform FULL calibration 4 times (there are different types of calibration
4. Make sure you have a known good cartridge
5. Clean Color Plane Registration Sensor
4. Clean Density Sensor
5. Replace Color Plane Registration Sensor
6. Replace Laser Scanner

Thanks for your quick reply.Printed event log but no errors listed.Have performed multiple calibrations but the problem returns after a few good prints.Also have tried different cartridges but to no avail.
I will try cleaning all contacts and sensors as you suggested and will let you know how I go.

Change default settings from tray 2 any size any type to letter plain paper.
If your are handy in repair remove the laser scanner unit removed the screw at the black box and cleaned with a cotton tip inside the laser scanner be careful when cleaning don't be to rough.Good luck.

Cleaning lenses is a good idea on these machines. It's the most common repair I've done on these machines especially if the colors are not as bright as they should be or you get fading on the pages.

Getting to the scanner is fun.
1. Remove all covers (remove cartridges & ITB first)
2. Remove formatter and dc controller (extra careful with ribbon cables)
3. Move cable harnesses
4. Remove rear metal cover
5. Remove metal clips at the bottom of the machine exposing 2 screws
6. There are 2 screws on bottom and 1 or 2 near top
7. Remove scanner and hold to the light to really see the lenses to clean with a swab (scanner is black box - 4 in 1 type)

After trying all suggestions without success,I finally removed the colour plane registration sensor.I removed the plastic covers & cleaned the sensors below.I have printed out hundreds of prints since without a problem.If anyone else has the same problem I suggest you save time & grief & go straight to these sensors.

I believe I did mention that, but I'm glad it fixed your problem.

Yes you did mention the sensors.Without your thread I would still be tearing my hair out ( whats left of it )
