Just a followup for the thread info.....
I have this exact problem, I have experimented with the cartridges, and if all cartridges are removed, only the last one cannot be inserted as the carousel does not line up correctly (regardless of which color it is, as long as it is the last one being installed).
I can tell you however, that this has only happened after I attempted to use a non-oem cartridge which had a totally jacked up roller gear thing, which was super hard to turn. It was so hard to turn that it made the teeth grind when it was attempting to turn the gear when I installed the cartridge. I exchanged that one for another (non-oem), and after that, that specific color (magenta) would not work when printing. All the other colors seemed to be ok.
I'm fairly mechanical but have never messed with a printer before (I normally do automotive electronics, electronics component repairs), so I guess I'll take it apart and see what the deal is.
Before I read this thread I figured some sort of synching gear or indexing gear or something had to be off somewhere due to gear slippage from the stiff cartridge gear, but this thread definitely helped to point me in the right direction
So I will check out the carousel drive and the solenoid.
Awesome forum here, and at least I have something new to tinker with and hopefully not break LOL
