HP 4345 mfp DF multi feeding

Hi, I don't have any experience with this machine. The doc.feeder is multi-feeding the originals. I replaced the friction pad, but that didn't solve the problem. Is there anything else I can check?

There should be a wee guide/plastic bit just before the seperation pad....is that still there? It will probably be a wee bit yellow in colour. other than that i dont know, not had any probs with the machines.......yet ha!!

Yes, that plastic is still there. It is a bit yellow. Should I replace the feed rollers as well? Will that maybe solve the problem? Its looks like the sep. pad is not grabbing the paper. Maybe I should stick some tape on it to get more grip.

if you have one it wouldnt do any harm I suppose but if its multi feedeing then it shouldnt make any difference. I'm assuming the pad has still got the spring(sorry if im teaching you to suck eggs!!) you could adjust the tension on the spring?.

The whole guide flap the the pad sits in is slightly spring loaded when its pushed down, is that still got pressure on it?

Other than that I'm not too sure? other than blaming the paper ha!?!?

Yes, the pad and the cover beneath is still spring loaded. I will try to adjust the pressure.

I did blame the paper and the amount of paper they put in the machine. I told them they shouldn't load more than 15 pages! That only worked for 3 fax jobs.

I would try to replace the rollers first. I have ran into this as well. The doc feeder kit only had 50k pages on it but was pulling several pages. . I have also had even after replacing the full doc feeder kit it would still pull multiple pages. If I printed a config page, that would run through just fine but would have problems with what the end user was using. We ruled and blamed this on the paper. They were trying to send folded paper that was previously stapled, and of different sizes.

Well about 2 months down the road the adf started having more issues, and had to replace the whole assem b/c HP does not just sell the parts. And to all of our surprise it was now pulling paper with no problems that it wouldn't pull 2 months ago.

McGyver moves?? Curious to what else you are trying, I have several of these devices out in the field I work on so the more things to try the better.

I will be adjusting the springs under the seperation pad, and maybe covering the sep. pad with some tape for more grip. Will inform you of any success.

Problem solved (for now). The yellow plastic bit had a thin film of plastic covering it, witch I removed, revealing a sticky surface beneath. That seems to solve the problem.
