    HP9040/9050 mfp

Hi. I have two mfps a 9040 and a 9050 that loose the required fax settings i.e. phone number and header + the scan details when the power is turned off/on. The customer is not using DSS, and I have tried upgrading the firmware to the latest, another HDD, cold reset, factory reset and a disc initial. HP have advised to replace the formatter but before I order this expensive part has anyone else had this?

I am inclined to believe that HP is correct in their assessment. The only parts that are involved are Formatter & Firmware. I would recommend replacing both, because you could have a bad Firmware DIMM and I've seen a bad one blow a formatter. It is expensive, but it's not a cheap printer so it's worth fixing. As a side point (unrelated to your problem), I would make sure that the printer is plugged directly to the outlet as the power requirements for this printer are high.

    Q7725-67990 FIRMWARE DIMM - around $50
    Q3726-69007 FORMATTER - between $800-900
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Sorry ive not been on here for a long time but the fault was fixed by fitting genuine HP firmware cards. The machines had been through our workshop and had non genuine cards fitted.
