HP 4200 Cartridge error tape has been removed

Have a full 42X for this and the seal has been removed and the mag roller is coated but the printer wont recognize its had the seal removed.. any way to get it to use it? customer did break the drum protector cover when they put it in I replaced it and it seems to function ok. Is it the chip? Other carts work fine..
    Thanks for any help

I think it would be in the chip. I have ran into this on reman cartridges a few times and had to send them back for a refund. If you can send it back to get a new one or refund I would do that and put another in.

If this is an HP Laserjet 4200, it should be using the Q1338A.

Very true, only thing I can think of is he has a reman toner thats a universal. I have seen toner labeled as a 42x thats reman and fits all models in the 42xx/43xx series.

Some of those all in one cartridges are using chips that don't always work well with all the machines they can go in. Also, if this has been bench-tested in one machine and put into another it may not automatically register in a different machine. Do you happen to know the code on the chip (i.e. U17/U18)?
