There is nothing in the manual about a 4C02.I error but people have mentioned on other HP printers getting a 49.4C02 error. One thing I would question is the jetdirect card. If you have a jetdirect card in this mfp, remove it and perform a cold reset. If it works ok without the jetdirect card, chances are you need a new jetdirect card. If the error occurs only when you print certain things you may want to make sure you have the latest drivers, try a different version, or different type (eg. pcl5e vs 6)

If you do a cold reset make sure you print your configuration page and file directory pages. Then turn it off, hold down the Select (checkmark) button and turn it on. Hold select until all three leds are illuminated, release the button and press the up navigation button twice, you'll see Cold Reset on the display, press Select once, you'll see a message of Starts on the display and the MFP will reset when the cold reset is done.

I agree with MBT. Also, firmware usually available on HP's website. Click support & drivers, enter printer model, and there should be firmware available (not sure on this printer since it is old). This printer does have known issues with formatters going bad. It may be jetdirect, firmware, or firmware and formatter together. Let us know what fixes your problem.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
