HP Color laserjet 3800 tray 2 empty

While at a customer's office fixing a Sharp copier, they asked me to look at an HP laserjet 3800. It keeps reading tray 2 empty, but of course there is paper in there. I can put paper in the manual feed and it works fine. And if I open and close tray 2 enough it will eventually see the paper. After a search online, I see that there was a bulletin about closing the tray slowly to make sure it catches the tray lift release. Well, that part is working so the paper presence sensor must have a problem. SR-709 is the sensor I believe. I will be going back to perform the manual sensor test to decide if the sensor is working properly or not. I see this seems to be a popular problem after my research. Anyone fixed this same problem before?

You can do a sensor test from the diagnostics menu, but you will need to know what letter the printer identifies the sensor as. Send me a PM and I'll try to help you out.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
