Just replaced the transfer belt on this unit, and now the copies are all faded out. I have tried changing out the drums/toners but the results seems to be the same. The colors are just really faded out( especially the monkey in the demo print he is just not very bright like he should be). Befor i changed the belt it had some other problems but not the fading. What did i miss? Thanks

Laser scanner. You have to physically remove it, hold it up to the light and clean it. It's a bear to get to and the service manual doesn't show you how to do it, but it only requires time and no parts if it works.
1) Remove all covers, cartridges, & open front door.
2) Remove Formatter and DC Controller
3) Remove plate under that, loosen harness holders that cover the screws. you should be able to get it out without removing all the cables around it.
4) remove 2 screws on printer bottom located under 2 leaf springs
5) remove 1 or 2 screws securing the top half of the laser scanner
6) be careful of the ribbon cables
7) Use dust free swabs to clean lenses or dust free cloth.
If this doesn't get it or the laser scanner is too dirty to clean, you'll need to replace it.
Hope this helps you.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!". -
Ok thanks. Don't know if they wana pay me to do that. But i'm willing if they are. They were using rake toner thats probably the source of the problem. If it is dirty. But why did the problem only show up only after i replaced the belt? I was thinking i might have missed something when i reinstalled. Good to know thats not what happened. That is a bit of a bear too! Thanks.
Ps i like your quote. I'm gonna email it to myself!Comment

lenses are exposed and there is no shutter that covers them. 4 cartridges with microfine toner flying around. Bound to happen sooner or later. I don't think it has anything to do with the transfer belt, but there is a density sensor in the top of it. Did you try putting the old transfer belt back to see if the print changed? Did you calibrate the printer after changing the belt? I still think it's the laser scanner, 95% of the time it fixes the problem.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment
