    HP Designjet 1050C

Error Message "Check Print Head Path Type 2"

This is what I have found

Most likely the drive belt but I have a few questions?

How big a job is it to change the drive belt.

What can you use to clean this thing?
It is in an industrial setting and has a lot of foundry dust in it. It is in the office but this dust is everywhere.
My first thought is compressed air but there are a lot of rollers and mylar.
Also is there a preferred type of lubricant?

The belt can be replaced in about a 1/2 hour. You have to be careful with the trailing cables, if you don't get them back in correctly you will blow a fuse on the main board. If it is a "B" model there is a replaceable fuse on the main board, but if its a "A" model then you have a boat anchor because the fuse is a surface mount and the board is no longer available from HP. As far as cleaning use water for cleaning and a light oil on the rail.

You can do the belt in 30 minutes if you are a tech and have done it before. Plan for a couple of hours so you can go slow and be careful. And get a manual, do not do it blind. When you get the belt, it should come with some lube for the rails.
