    HPLJ 2300d with a 41.02.00 printer error

I have an older HP 2300 that I'm working on that is throwing a code of 40.02.00 frequently. When it comes up the page that is printing comes out totally black. I recently replaced the laser unit after I looked up the code and saw that it stood for a "beam detect misprint error." There are no fixes in the manual other than turn the machine off and back on and contact a service provider. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have this machine plugged directly into the outlet?
Next it is a laser scanner related problem and your next step would be to replace the scanner. I would try to open the scanner and clean the mirrors/lenses (don't touch circuit board) first, as it just may be dirty. There isn't much of a weakness in the 2300 series with scanners, if it was a 2200, I would replace the scanner and not waste time cleaning it. Let us know if that doesn't work as it could be something else, but 90% of the time this is the problem.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
