    Designjet 5500PS initializing

I've got a designjet 5500PS that had some cyan leaking trouble and I replaced the tube system. I followed the recommended procedure, but on boot up it gets to 99% initializing and freezes. I waited about an hour (while I was working on a couple other printers) to be sure it wasn't taking an extraordinary amount of time to come ready. I thought just maybe it was something with the tube system so i had my supplier send me another one. No luck, I have the same problem with that one. I can put the old leaky tube system back in and it will come ready, but both new tubes will only get to 99% initializing and then freeze. The only thing I've found for this problem had to do with the jetdirect card which I've removed.

I called HP tech support about this and after spending an hour or so on the phone they finally took my number and said they'd call me if they think of something.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm stumped.

Only suggestion HP came up with is to update the firmware, did that yesterday but still having the same problem. At this point, I'm open to any suggestions. I'm almost to the point I wish I could just wash my hands of it, take my losses and apologize, if only my boss would let me.

I had a problem with bad tubes from HP. What I did was to remove the PCB that was on the old set of tubes and swap it with the one on the replacement set of tubes. This took care of the problem.

I thought bad tubes and had my supplier send me another set. Didn't know there was a PCB on the tubes themselves, I'll definitely look for it!

Fixed! I swapped the PCB from the old unit to the new one and it finally came ready. This was the 2nd new tube system I tried. The first one did the same thing so I sent it back and had them send me another. When that one didn't work I thought maybe there was something else wrong.

          Thanks Jeff!
