i have a customer with an hp2840 with uneven density on copies and prints. all colors. the developer units are within their yield. he had a remanufactured image unit (drum and ITB) wich was only at 20%. the image was uneven on the image transfer belt. i couldn't get to the drum but i assume it was uneven on the drum also. i told him to buy an OEM image unit from hp because i've seen alot of aftermarket image units fail prematurely. well, he called me this afternoon and said he bought a new oem image unit and its still uneven. now i'm suspecting the laser unit(s) or the carousel unit may be out of alignment. what do y'all think?

Sometimes remanufactured products do not work friendly with these machines, try have geniune image unit and color toners replace the remanufactured ones. Again if this does not help, i suggest you clean the image transfer belt and check the sitting postion of the belt for any slight movement. -

Carousels get out of alignment on these machines, the carousel bushings go bad, and even the carousel assembly.
