Actually it would be better if they posted all the steps here instead of emailing you, so it helps the next person. I'm sure you're not the only person who has had this problem.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

I'd start inspecting the carriage assembly... does it try to move? could be something in the machine jamming it... is it docked in the service station? station could be jammed and is not releasing the carriage assembly... with machine off... rotate the motor at the service station to release the carriage, gently push it all the way across the machine, see if you feel something wrong... too stuck (lack of lubrication) etc
Leave the carriage at the far side of the service station and power it up carriage will return and proceed to a cleaning procedure... pay attention to it all looking for something wrong... sorry cant be really specific, just spewing out some directions...
