Hello,
This is a problem with the Document scanner / flatbed scanner
Try this;
Turn off the power by using the power switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn on the
power and wait for the product to initialize. Observe the document scanner movement under the glass, the lamp should illuminate, and then the scanner should move slowly as it seeks its 'home' position.
If it doesn't move or appears to stall, (might make some noise) it might be jammed on the rail. this can be cleaned. Along with the underside of the glass.
If the error persists, verify that all formatter connectors are firmly connected.
If the error persists, update the firmware.
If the error persists, replace the Scanner sub assembly
I think I figured it out, at least for me and maybe a lot of you others who don't want to buy a new scanner just because the homing stripe got too dirty. On the bottom of the scanning glass at right end is the white stripe (and a black stripe next to it. I'm pretty sure that this edge is the home position, and it there isn't enough contrast for some reason for it to find home. I cleaned the glass with a Kim wipe, any lint free or lens tissue will do. After fighting with it for months, it's now working fine. If clean glass doesn't do it for you, take a Sharpie marker (or other indelible marker) and draw over the black area to reduce the glare from the glass where it should be black. Don't get any marker over the WHITE area. Report back here if that doesn't fix it!
I myself had this on another machine not this model and cleaning the mirror right below the lamp worked... give those a try first... cheaper than the others
