    M6040 MFP code 49.ff.81

    I had the tech initialize the hard drive..started working but it came right back.. Hard drive or something else? Any help would be appreciated.

      Check driver and firmware version. Update as needed. I would remove the hard drive and test it really well. If it doesn't come back, the hard drive is bad, replace it. If it comes back it isn't the hard drive and you're looking at firmware/formatter/memory issue or other communication related device.

      Rule everything out one by one that could cause it, whatever is left has to be the problem.

          Did the firmware update to no avail. Still showed disk not initiated. Then after a while times out with the error. Then it started saying disk not installed, so trying a new hard drive first.. thanks.
