Hey, all. Gotta a HP LJ 1320 that I have been servicing for a customer with what can only really be described as ghost jam/noise. Intermittenly machine will go to pick up paper and you hear the gears try twice (some times very loudly) and than throws a jam but the paper does not move from cassette. Originally it was happening every 5-10 pages and I replaced the P/U Roller and Pad which were pretty worn. Now, a month later they are reporting the same issue. Although when I ran it I only had one jam after running about 250+ pages through it. So my next though is either the Double Gear that is on the end of the p/u roller shaft or the cassette itself? Any ideas? Also, how prone to damp paper are these machines? My only other suspiscion is it could be the paper but it is hard to prove since I do not see or feel the moisture in the paper and they have Canon IR 3570's which run fine double sided (which usually mean paper/enviorment is OK). Thanks.

Re: HP LaserJet 1320
I've seen damaged teeth on the double gear and failure of the solenoid at that gear. I've also seen broken shafts. Both on the roller and the pickup shaft. Taking that machine apart requires lots of patience.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
