Iam going to cn 6040 in the morning and apparently it is dead. I am not an HP engineer so i have no experience on them. Is there something i should be looking for exept psu and fuses?

When you say dead, what exactly do you mean? Dead can be control panel not working or it can be blown power supply. I assume there are no LED's, no fans, or motors running. If that is the case and you've tried a different outlet, your problem is probably a blown low voltage power supply. Additionally, if there are any optional trays, duplex units, EIO devices (ie,...hard drive or network card) installed, you will need to remove them from the machine to determine it isn't one of those gone bad. I had a bad network card in a 4250 once that took all power down in the machine and I've had a duplex unit do it in an 8150. If you can still see LED's or fans and motors work, you may have a formatter issue or the dc controller may have gone bad. I have quite a few of these and found that most times if it is completely dead, no lights nor fans, it's the DC controller. If it's still alive and just stuck on the HP logo screen, then it's either the hard drive or formatter. Disconnect the hard drive and if it comes up to ready, then it's the hard drive. You can then try and format the hard drive which sometimes works.Comment
