I'm at a loss how to help you exactly. You've stated the settings, but have not told us what it is or is not doing. Is it auto selecting? Is it saying there is no paper in the tray? We need a bit more information please. Also, remember, whatever is selected in the driver will override whatever is in control panel settings.

Sorry, when i send a job to the fax it asked to press the button go to proceed or hide to ignore. sometimes it will print the envelope and other times it will pick up the a4 and miss the envelope. when im looking an a4 document it will pick up from the envelope tray and print on the envelope.

I know you probably already checked this, but when you sent the job, did you make sure the paper size in the driver was selected. If it assumes that it is plain paper, it will print via the nearest available tray containing that paper. Additionally, one or more setting may be wrong in the control panel. If it is set to print to tray 1 first, it will attempt to pull paper from there first, regardless of what is in the tray. Whatever is printed will be the way the driver sets up the job and will override what the printer is set to. If there is A4 in tray 2, envelopes in tray 1 and the client is printing to tray 1 with A4, it will not go to tray 2. It will ask if you are sure on the panel, and if OK is selected it will print to tray 1. I have tried to isolate the pages in the service manual that might pertain to your settings issue. Print a menu map to check what the settings are and that will allow you to see what might be changed. HP's new ways of selecting paper is a little crazy, in my humble opinion.

Hi, thanks for all the help, can one of you guys answer this or am i running round in circles.

As i have set the manual feed tray to envelopes, and i want to print an a4 page or do a copy a4 page through the duplex will it always atempt to pick up from the manual feed? (as its loaded, with envelopes though) I hope not as my client always needs the envelope tray to be loaded but always prints an a4 after the envelope. Can anyone confirm this? sorry if it looks a little confusing.

          thanks

What is tray behavior set to? Print Menu Map to see current settings. I think this is where your problem lies. See the attachment for the setting options.

I'm a little late to the game, but if you print out the configuration page, it will tell you what the printer thinks its' paper trays are set to. This way you can confirm the settings correct.

To answer your above question, if the trays are set as you say, and you print or copy an A4, the printer will pull from the A4 tray. If there isn't a tray loaded with A4 the printer will prompt the user to load it.

At this point in time, you have probably already figured this out.

              Cheers
