Open front door, transfer door and bypass the front interlock switch.
            Remove the cartridges
Go to the Diagnostics menu > Component Test > Alienation Motor Test.

Watch black plates (4) in the back. They should go up, down, and in the middle. If they don't, the plates could be broken or out of position. If these plates look fine, remove left cover (put top cover back on) and perform the test again. Watch to see if the alienation (developer disengagement) motor turns, long black linear gear goes up and down, spring at the bottom is not missing, and white gear at the top is damaged.

All of these parts control cartridge open and closing. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you my 4600 troubleshooting guide, if you would like to know more.
