    hp 2320 2ndary service mode

Anyone know how to get into the service mode? I need to rotate tray 2 roller to replace; manual says left arrow and cancel at same time from ready state but that does not work, I know HP sometimes leaves out a step or so in their manuals...anyone know how or am I just crazy?

Thanks, Happy New Years as well

Instructions are on page 311. You have to have the main menu up first. Then, hold left arrow and cancel. Then, go back to main menu and select 2ndary Service and press OK.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Thanks Prntrfxr, I never would have looked elsewhere. On page 128 it says this:
The roller must be rotated into the service position to remove it.
CAUTION: Avoid touching the spongy roller surface unless you are going to replace the roller. Skin
oils on the roller can cause paper pickup problems.
      1. Turn the product on, and wait for it to reach the Ready state. Perform the following steps to rotate
the roller to the service position.
NOTE: If you have removed Tray 2 to service the product, reinstall the tray before turning the
      power on.
TIP: The following steps rotate the engine paper-pickup roller and the Tray 1 paper-pickup roller
      into the service position.
      a. Open the 2ndry Service menu by pressing the Left Arrow button and the Cancel button
      simultaneously.
      b. Use the arrow buttons to select Pick roller, and then press OK.
Press OK again to confirm that you want the roller to rotate.
      c. Listen for the roller to rotate. When the roller is done rotating, unplug the power cord and then
place the power switch in the off position.
CAUTION: It is important to place the power switch in the off position after unplugging the
power cord so that the product power does not come on immediately when the power cord is
      plugged in again.
      d. Remove Tray 2.
      e. Perform the remaining steps in this procedure to remove the roller. After replacing the roller,
plug the power cord into the product, and then use the power switch to turn the power on.

Although I read from a different manual that for another model you need to be in service menu first, that was my next step, only problem was it was a charge call and fairly far away. Thanks for the reply!

These instructions work great! Any suggestions on how to get the pick roller out easily? I always seem to fight with these little buggers.

Snap ring pliers or 2 small flat blade screwdrivers. If you break the locking tabs you're screwed. BTW this is the CM2320. Which means its a color multifunction machine. The scanner cover and adf are not fixed so when you tilt the machine to get to the roller, be careful. It also helps to have a 3rd hand.

Today I was not able to access 2ndary Service menu because I.T. had set a password. I put some paper in the drawer, pushed "copy", and pulled the power cord when I heard it start to pickup paper. Worked well.

Yeah, done similar trick many times, opening a cover while the roller spins is enough to stop it in the correct position and not pulling the power cord.
