HP 4015 paper pickup problems tray two and three

I've no experience looking at these, the symptom is the drive train tries over and over again to lift the first page and when it does the whole job queue prints fine I had the right hand side cover off and it seemed to be the solenoid that lets the pickup rollers not turning. But when I try the solenoid in diagnostic mode the solenoid moves once and then I have to reset diagnostic mode. Any assistance please

Are you saying both trays are doing the same thing?
I would first upgrade the firmware, thats wierd.

If its just tray 2 or 3 try this...

Make sure rollers are snapped in and are in good shape.

Turn machine around and look through back of printer to watch rollers engaging. Might have to take off duplexer or dust cover.
Theres a swivel that engages a gear on rollers. Clean this if its not engaging.
It is posible it is the Paper pickup drive assembly RM1-4532 but rarely

Thanks bill it was tray 2 and 3 turns out it was the firmware done a web search and found a few results saying the fusing unit hadnt completely warmed up and thus it wouldnt activate the solenoids. Soon as I done the firmware it worked perfectly
