The used HP CM3530 I bought came with the HP Jetdirect 635n Print Server EIO card which I noticed sells for $200 or more on eBay.In another post I mentioned when printing long pdfs from the PC the printer often slows down to wait for data, its currently connected by USB.Since the HP Jetdirect 635n Print Server supports gigabit ethernet, would that solve the slow downs when printing from my PC? If so how do I connect the printer to the network, I have a normal router, do I need one with a printer port? And wouldn't USB 2.0 be fast enough for this printer not to slow down? I'm suspecting it might be in USB 1.1 mode or something like that but don't know how to check.I basically want to know if it's worth keeping this card or selling it.Wait a minute... the built in ethernet on this machine also is gigabit, I thought it was 100, so basically this HP Jetdirect 635n Print Server is all but useless to a home business user right? Thanks
Should I keep the HP Jetdirect 635n Print Server EIO card?

AAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!! Network printer = Ethernet port Router = Ethernet port Printer + Ethernet cable + Router = happy TCP/IP connected device USB will never hit the throughput of gigabit or fast Ethernet. Network the damned thing and be done with it. -

You guys seem to be missing the point that the CM3530 already has a built in gigabit ethernet port, this jetdirect card simply adds a 2nd one with more features or something. What exactly does the jetdirect card provide over the built in gigabit ethernet?ThanksComment

Re: Should I keep the HP Jetdirect 635n Print Server EIO card?
Let me make it simple. The jet direct card cost a couple of hundred dollars. It will fit almost all older HP's. It is small and easy to cary. You can use it to test other machines. You can put it in a machine that has a bad card. I keep a 620 card in my tool bag. If you do not want the card, give it to someone and quit asking stupid questions. It's a fucking card! The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen HawkingComment
