Question about EIO print server card serial/hardware address for fraud

    Question about EIO print server card serial/hardware address for fraud

    I sold my HP EIO J7961G card which was working and now the buyer says the card isn't working but both the serial number and MAC address he gives me have no resemblance to the serial/mac address I have on reports I printed when I had this card installed.

    Is it possible either of us is not looking at the right place? I'm looking on the report page titled "EIO 1 - Jetdirect Page" under "General Information". Is that the serial and mac address of the EIO card I had installed at the time?

    I just want to be certain before accusing him of fraud and filing a police report.

      I don't know of anyway it could have changed. Is this person installing it in a printer that has an embedded JetDirect, like a LaserJet 4250n? They would have to disable the embedded NIC to get it to work.

              I don't know if it was an unintentional mistake or if they tried to scam me and figured it wasn't going to work, but suddenly one of their employees found the right card and everything is fine.

              I'm glad I had the serial number.
