I wanted to let you know something that I just found out.
There was a 602X that had the 49.38.07 error code that occurred during the initialization cycle (between Init.16 and 17, if you have the patience to watch the many varied and sundry messages on the display as the machine starts up), so it wasn't any print job related problem like a manual I was using said (apparently the 49 series error codes don't apply to that many machines with four digit model numbers, least as far as I can tell). I even installed a new formatter, same problem.
Turns out in this case leaving the new formatter in and using the "Partial Disk Clear" from the pre-startup menu took care of it.
I was standing around like a fool for some time before I figured that out (Grrrr!). Hopefully this will help prevent others from looking foolish like me.
Yes, I am still kind of a noob at HP equipment.
No, my collection of HP manuals does not include the machines that have three digit model numbers. Except for some DesignJets. Which I have been more successful working on than this.
