MODEL: HP LASERJET Enterprise 3015 printer
Problem: ERROR code 49.4 will not go away

SO FAR, I've replaced the Formatter Board and Memory Dimm but I am still unable to reset the code.

These errors are almost always caused by outdated firmware. Print a configuration page and check the firmware version HP - United States | Laptop Computers, Desktops , Printers, Servers and more . If your version is older than the one on HP's site then download the top option which is the easy install version and run it on your computer.

The code is always display on the screen and I cannot do anything on it. I've replaced the FORMATTER BOARD and DIMM CARD but how do i reload the firmware if I don't know what IP is set in the printer?

If you could be a little more specific about the model number, please? Otherwise what comes next could be nonsense. (If so, sorry about that.)

According to the information that I've seen, this model comes with a standard USB connection. You shouldn't need the IP address. Just make sure that you have your computer connected to the printer directly by USB, and also make sure that the print driver on your computer is set up correctly for USB connections (that caused me minor irritation the first time I tried updating HP firmware too, but now I know better) and your firmware update should conclude successfully.

Here's the update... machine is now throwing an error code 49.4C01 on the lcd screen after another formatter board and new 512mb dimm memory replacement. The printer is displaying an ip of 169.254.210.175 when do a cross cable from the laptop.

is there a tech service mode for HP printer that can reset this error code? please help.........

In a word, No. Unlike copiers, you have to actually fix something to reset an error code.

Have you tried any of the "resets" yet? It kind of sounds like you need to do a "partial disk reset", does that machine have a mechanical or solid state hard drive?

I don't see any hard disk on the parts catalog. what's the different?

The specs from HP says it can have one:
HP LaserJet Enterprise P3015 Printer series specifications - HP Small & Medium Business products
but since a mechanical hard drive should be pretty obvious and be located on the formatter, I'm going to guess it is probably one of their solid state ones. Look for standard hard drive power and data cables going to a kind of large IC looking thing that is mounted on or near the formatter..
Or it doesn't have a hard drive, and in that case sorry about this.
Still that's all besides the point. Check the manual for the partial reset procedure, it sometimes works even on machines that don't have hard drives to solve reoccurring error codes. Just make sure to follow the instructions exactly.

Have proceeded step by step to confirm a faulty DIMM or EIO device if no try-it, please leave the Firmware DIMM for the last shot!

49 errors are communication failure errors. They can be caused by corrupted job data, driver issues, firmware update issues, software the client's using may need updating or patches. This is the cause probably 90% of the time, in my opinion. Bad connection cables can cause this problem, as well. It is rarely the formatter. However, HP's recent machines have formatter weaknesses and a bad formatter can cause this issue as well, but as stated before, it is rare.
