Usually by the time I see a plotter it is several years old and the service is pay as you go, but one of my good customers just bought a brand new T7100, with all the bells and whistles, started to put it together, got intimidated and called me. They inquired about being covered by a service plan and I am not sure how to price it. If any of you sell maintence on plotters I would be interested to know how you go about pricing it. Thanks in advance.

Re: Question about service plan for plotters.
First check on how much warranty is on the plotter. HP has to cover these on site.
I would plan on 3 service calls a year at a minimum of 4 hours per call. That works out to 12 hours per year times your labor rate then discout between 5 to 10 percent.
Part cost should be covered by the customer.
This is the way the company I work for handles contract costs, and we keep adding to our contract base.
