    HP 4700 Cyan Colour Registration

    Good morning,

I have an HP 4700... i have never really worked on this model of machine before and am pretty unfamiliar with HP products all together.

The Cyan registration is off by about 3mm... swapped out the cyan toner/ drum cartridge and changed the ITB... no change.

Can anybody recommend where i should begin?

    Thanks.

      Hey Guys,

Did you try a engine Tests? - print the engine test page, there is a little hole in the rear of the printer that you can use a toothpick to cycle the test button on the DC Controller. Letter size paper should be loaded in tray 2 and if you can see all the lines but close to get over another lines then you should change your Formatter. Did you perform a calibration on the printer? did you try swap your toner cartridge to discard the toner cartridge also contacts on printer and a bad timing gears on the engine? - Go to menu - find Diagnostic menu and choose the item Disable Cartridge Check , then you can perform an additional test. Many times this problem is related to a bad Formatter.

Let us know if your have any change.

I know this machine, but i haven;t got any extensive experience with it. But technology doesn;t change that fast If the mis-registration is off on 1 color contstantly and i replaced drum and belt. I would suspect the Cyan drum motor is not running at a constant speed. I don;t know if this engine has an encoderwheel, if so maybe it's dirty or the sensor itself is dirty/faulty.

Maybe the dc-con is just in a loop. But i cannot remember how to reset/clear is sram.
