I am guessing that it would work. BUT you have a waste area in those cartridges that need to be emptied otherwise it will over flow and start leaking toner. I would just not mess with it. Those carts are less than $30 anyway. Just buy a good refurb.

Thanks for pointing that out Mr. Bill, I get a big DUH for that one. I think the last 20 hps I have seen were color, and I got tunnel vision.

Yes for sure. I just don't know how severe the issues will be. For many years I worked with HP toners and they changed it over the years to deal with higher resolutions and they have different melting points and other things. If you were going from the SX engine to say the NX, EX, or BX for example you would be ok. But into the 1200, 4000, 2100 era it started to really change a lot. Even more so now with newer engines. Some aftermarket companies tried to make universal toners but it was junk.

It might possibly work somewhat but you will have problems. Such as harm to your printer such as the fuser. And the transfer efficiency will be awful so your waste bin will likely overflow causing leakage. Also quality would suffer.

Hi guys. Not a hp tech but a copier guy, so I am asking this for personal reasons. I've got a Hp 1015 printer that takes the 12A cartridge, of course. I am dumping my old laserjet series 2 with the Hp 92295A (95A) cartridge. I was wondering, can I scavange the toner out of the 95A to put into the 12A, is it the same ? Thanks.

Sir, if you were a customer, I would say no, since you are a tech, You should be ashamed for asking. I really don't know if they are the same, but I would never take a chance with color like that, bad idea.
