HP DesignJet T610 (Q6712A) HDD replacment procedure
Re: HP DesignJet T610 (Q6712A) HDD replacment procedure
This is actually fairly simple.
Pull out the formatter, it's two screws, and push in the clips.
Unscrew the hard drive from the formatter board and put a new one in.
It sounds like you're just replacing the hard drive but, don't put a new formatter and hard drive in at the same time. Replace one, power on, then replace the other.
Paul I'm sure will be by shortly to advertise a service manual which I recommend having.

Thanks MBT, maybe I should have explained more.
Once the HDD is replaced, does it required a firmware upload or will The T610 just work with a fresh blank HDD.

The service manual doesn't say anything so it should just self-init without you doing anything. If they send you a formatter too, just make sure to replace one thing at a time between power-ups.

I have just purchased an off the shelf HDD from the local computer shop. Havent ordered a formatter board yet. Just thought I would replace the hdd first.
Do you see any issues in doing so ?
Re: HP DesignJet T610 (Q6712A) HDD replacment procedure
That I'm not going to be much help on, in the plotters that I've replaced the hard drives, the drives are either hp parts or 3rd party parts meant for the plotter. I don't know if these contain any base formatting or not, and the service manual says nothing about that either.
