Hi guys. I'm having a problem with this machine. It shows "incorrect yellow". First , i thought the carousel is misaligned. I aligned it, following the guides on the gears on the left and right, but the error did not go away. I tried with another set of cartridges, same thing. The carousel rotates ok. The strange thing is that if i remove all the cartridges, the same error persists. Even if i remove the drum unit, the message stays. I would really appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Re: Hp 2820 - incorrect yellow
Hi. The cartridges are ok. Anyway, a coleague of mine said there is a electromagnetic clutch in the mechanism of the rotation of the carousel. The electromagnetic clutch has a spring and a little board with 2 kind of hooks at the end wich activate/deactivate the clutch for the gears. One of the hooks is bent over. My guess is that the customer forced the rotation of the carousel and automatically the clutch mechanism. I'll try to align the other hook as well and i'll come with an update.Comment

Re: Hp 2820 - incorrect yellow
Hi all. So i managed to get a functional hp2840. I switched the whole assembly which drives the carousel and it still shows "incorrect yellow". I'm running low on ideas. I can interchange any part between the good printer and the bad one, but i really don't know wich parts could cause this "incorrect yellow" error. Any ideas?Comment

Re: Hp 2820 - incorrect yellow
The yellow unit is not the issue here. Like i said, i tried with other cartridges. Same thing. The whole point is that the printer, even without any cartridge and the drum unit, still shows the incorrect yellow message. Mine doesn't pass the self test. On a good printer, without the cartridges and the drum unit, the printer initializes, makes the self test and then asks for the cartridges and the drum unit. Mine doesn't get so far. Anyway, i tear it up yesterday. Even the carousel. I'm now putting it back together and hopefully it will start to work. Otherwise, i'm really out of ideas.Comment

Hopefully you'll find a broken wire harness or an ill seated connector related to the yellow unit in the carousel unit.
Good luck!Comment

Re: Hp 2820 - incorrect yellow
Hi guys. So i managed to make the damn printer work. Like i said, i tear the whole thing apart, even the carousel, cleaned the carousel's contacts, cleaned the rest, and then it started working. There wasn't much toner on the contacts of the carousel, so honestly, i really don't know exactly what the issue with this machine was. Anyway, thanks all for the advices.Comment

Re: Hp 2820 - incorrect yellow
My resolution to HP 2820 machines that require more than carousel realignment, replacement of ECU, or cleaning is: carry to the nearest dumpster and throw it in. Anything more and you're losing money.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment

That's why we asked you to try moving the cartridge to another printer to test. If you did and the cartridge worked then the chip is not bad. It may be the cartridge reader sensor in the back of the machine. (the one in the front is for the ETB).Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment
