    How large is the pdf? Are you printing multiple copies of it? Does the printer have extra memory installed? If not, have you tried extra memory?

        Have you updated firmware?

          This is a PCL 6 error.
          Change to a pcl5 driver, and if that does not work try a ps driver.

          HP has a problem with their pcl 6 drivers and XP.

          pcl 6 is hp's version of pcl xl

            I agree with Rob, but there has also been some updates in SOME models in the firmware to eliminate or reduce such problems. I would suggest both. Rob is right, it is a PCL error.

              I just fixed a 4250 (Base Model) with a similar error; Every print out it would spit out an extra page with the error on it;
              PCL XL error
              Error illegal operator sequences; Also had a bunch of differant errors, but always with PCL XL error at the beginning

              I found they were using an external Jet Direct unit 170X; We have like 300 4250's in the field but they all use 620 0r 625 cards with no issues like this so I
              Replaced It with a 620 Jet Direct; Have not had any issues since
