HP CM2320 mfp magenta speckles and band

speckles.jpgcm2320_diag.jpgThis printer has an odd problem. First the firmware is November 2013, to try and resolve issue and did not.
Please read all before making a decision.
The Magenta drum has been replaced but did not resolve. There is magenta speckles across the the page left to right. I took a snapshot of the right side so you could see the speckles. The two pen lines show the width of the magenta bar across the page in which you cannot see but is there in the background. The other snapshot is the perfect page from the diag print.
The magenta cartridge has been changed.
The prints are perfect from the platen, internal demo page, internal diag page.
Not a good print containing bar of magenta and speckles, network printing, internal config page, usage page.
I unplugged and rebooted. I have not tried cold reset or nvram.

Any ideas what it might be.

I am going to first try a full set of new drum/toner units. Maybe the transfer belt unit is acting up. bias problems I suppose. The good thing is I have a personal printer of the same model so can at least try my drum toner units and the belt if necessary to figure out what the problem is. I think its a drum unit messing with the bias and loading down the bias to the magenta unit. I dont want to get involved with other things til I try this. just makes sense.

      Just to be clear,

Machine has this problem while network printing, internal config page, usage page.

Does not have this problem while making a copy, internal demo page, internal diagnostic page.

      Strange indeed!
If I just saw that defect I would replace the magenta toner cartridge.
If you are using refurbished toners I would try OEM.
Please let us know what the Fix is, Good Luck!

I agree I think you have a bias connection problem.
I looks like the magenta toner was dumped on the transfer belt.
Have you tried putting it into ecno mode to see if anything changes?

Even after years of tech service I will never learn it seems. Just have those days.

Here is the fix: replace the cartridge. Customer claimed it was doing this before they changed the cartridge, I dont know that for certainty, so they replace the cartridge and it does it still. Guess what? we have two bad sustainable earth cartridges in a row. I started with the cartridge as I needed to know for sure it wasn't the cartridge, but you know there was magenta on every drum at the outer end. The thing that fascinates me is how it would print perfect with a demo or diag page. I think the bias voltages changes for printing and for copying. still didn't make sense when you read the first of this thread. Anyhow I had to go with my gut feeling as I have always seen this to be a cartridge just hard to believe sometimes it could be two in a row but I had a similar adventure with an hp4015 where there was speckles and it ended up being a transfer roller, after I thought I had 2 bad cartridges in row. It was the transfer roller pieces sticking to the drum causing speckles. I guess some third party transfer rollers will actually chemically come apart and stick to the drum so I actually use oem transfer rollers in those machines unless the machine is constantly in use such as a print maybe every 2 or three minutes.
Had to bring that up since I was reminded by this call of a similar situation.

Thanks for looking over the situation and getting back with me.
