Sorry for not giving you any usable information.
But I look forward to seeing what you find out.

But i can get it back very easily.....do a print-engine test/demo,open front door, pull cyan toner out 1/3 of way push back in,remove paper from fuser (Caused a jam) Printer re-sets itself, etc. And hey presto! Printing cyan!?!?

So what's the cause? Can't be the MDA for that'd not print would it? Or removing the cyan toner allows the cam to move or something? Or could it be the laser shutter? Or the toner earth spring at the front door?

Not sure....got kinda side tracked after noticing that the cp3525dn,after the firmware update is now no longer a 'dn'?

On the menu screen there is no option for setting duplex mode....how and why that's disappeared I have no idea?
      Anyone for that?
As for the cyan I'll go for the earth then the PGC shutters first-let's face it the MDA is gonna be the last thing-getting fed up of taking it off!
Also I'll try and lube the cam lobes and levers.

      I'll let you know!

Oh can you downgrade the firmware update or am i now stuffed due the fact the formatter thinks it is a non-duplexing model?

Off to work again-nightshift all this weekend.
Yay! Happy days finally sorted the issue and you'd never believe it!
Got fed up and took off the MDA yet again (20 mins now!) Couldn't
Fault it. So started with the shutters, but for a better look took off the metal top plate marked as A01 figure 8-3 page 458 in the service manual.
Breakthrough! Noticed the Cyan's toner sensor holder assembly item no. 29,rm1-5700 figure 8-4 page 460. The plastic tab at the thick end wasn't in its slot and was stopping the Base assembly lever item no.31 rc1-4979 figure 8-4 page 460 from contacting the toner properly!!!! Thank god I took the plate off - very hard to see
In there. Still all 's good and it prints like a dream.

Thanks to all who have responded to my post, now onto the 5225 at last!

      Cheers!

Gus633, glad you solved the no cyan print. As for the no duplex option on the menu screen, try printing out a configuration and menu map page from the printer itself. The configuration page should list a model product number (not the model name) and this will tell you if it's a model with duplex. The menu map should list a duplex option if it's still there (may be hidden). Sometimes firmware upgrade(s) may move printing options to a different area of the menu structure.

Regarding the formatter, as in some LaserJet models, the DC Controller re-programmed information to the formatter (new or used) and other models the formatter can't be re-programmed with information if it is used, only a new blank formatter can be re-programmed from a DC controller. Hopefully the DC controller is a CC470A model and everything works out.

              Hi Printerdude,
well that was a bust! Fitted 'new' formatter board-printer did a 'restore' and yep,no duplex!
Config pages say it's fitted, though nothing on the screen to select it,plus you can't even use HP's windows driver to 'tell'
              the printer to duplex.
So went to the cp3525x and tried ALL the formatter board's,one after another and they all show the duplex screen!?
Oh and they do duplex as well. So I guess the DC controller board is the problem-another new one on the way!

So I guess in this case the dc board re-programmes the formatter. Live and learn.......
For this printer though the parts list only show one dc controller board......hmmm?

I'll let everyone know how it goes.

              Cheer's again for the reply.

              Gus.

                Hi Gus633,

Now we know the DC controller write re-programmed the formatter. When you install a new DC controller, used the formatter from the CP3525x or CP3525dn model. Make sure the formatter(s) are programmed from these models as the formatter will re-programmed the DC controller. Turn off machine then turn on, wait 10 minutes then turn off and then turn on for 10 minutes, then turn off and you are finished with the programming setup. Don't do anything as pressing any buttons or have anything attached to the printer when the programming is going on, as this may downgrade to a base model printer. Good luck.

Closing this post and will open a new one for the duplex issue.
