    HP-LJ-4000, contineous paper feed.

Customer just got a few new cartridges and therefore doesn't want to scrap his HP-LJ-4000 yet.

Machine is taking in continuously paper. Is this a known issue? Solenoid? Any hints for me please where to start looking?

YEP!!! sticky solenoid lower right hand corner in the front of machine. remove covers release it from the base and the feed solenoid is in the base. easy job, a dozen or so screws----GOOD LUCK

      How many trays ?
If more than one(tray 1 which is bypass, tray 2) Does it continuous feed from all , then look at reg unit.
If from tray 2 and tray 3 then paper feed unit behind tray 1 unit
If from tray 2 or tray 3 then individual tray feed unit.
Quite a few of the HP parts for the LJ 4000 have been discontinued, You may have to try aftermarket/refurb vendors.

        Thanks guys.

It was indeed the solenoid of the standard 500-sheet tray as 1stcavvet mentioned. I was able to replace the sticky patch and machine is running again like it did in the previous 2nd century....

I'm still confused about the tray numbering. Many brands call the manual feed tray #0 and the main tray #1, any additional tray #2, #3 and so on, but with this machine it is the more logical #1 and #2 since #0 is nothing. Still following me?

Hp has usually/always called the by-pass tray "Tray 1" which can get confusing as most other manufacturers call it the by pass or manual feed tray.
