HP LJ9050- some background, thick paper

machine has 320k on it, customer uses for printing on thick stock and were getting some background on it.

    they replaced the toner (OEM)

we replaced the maintenance kit (OEM) and it still had some background...it has gotten progressively better but didn't go away completely. I don't believe it
does it at all with regular paper (20lb).

"we've always used this paper" it's embossed, used for printing up diploma type documents.

would changing the print properties in the driver correct this?

It kind of sounds like a fuser offset problem, so if you experiment with the settings for different types of thick paper it could help. But make sure the setting you select will work for the long run. With the wrong setting, thick paper does tend to cool the fuser faster than the heater can keep up.
